The Boeing 707 ushered in the jet age in passenger transport, transforming global aviation. As Boeing's first highly successful commercial jet, it shortened distances and connected continents, becoming an aviation icon. Its robust and revolutionary design was so striking that it served as the basis for several military aircraft, including strategic transport and aerial refueling versions.

In 1986, the Brazilian Air Force took a strategic leap forward by acquiring four Boeing 707s from Varig, which were converted into the multi-role military version, the KC-137. Nicknamed "Sucatão," these quadjets became the backbone of strategic transport and, crucially, of the FAB's in-flight refueling (REVO) capability. For the first time, Brazilian fighter jets could be refueled by a jet, dramatically increasing their range and operational flexibility.

This exclusive artwork by Alexandre Guedes depicts the KC-137E, registration FAB 2401, the most distinctive of the four aircraft. Operated by the 2nd/2nd Transport Group – the "Corsair Squadron," FAB 2401 had a dual mission: in addition to its refueling capabilities, its interior was modified for a VIP configuration, serving as the main transport aircraft for the President of the Republic from 1986 to 2005. Before serving the nation, this aircraft, manufactured in 1968, flew for Varig under the registration PP-VJY. This piece pays homage to an aircraft that was both a symbol of national sovereignty and a strategic force multiplier.
