In the Brazilian Air Force, the Legacy 500 received the military designation IU-50 and assumed a critical mission under the wings of the Special Flight Inspection Group (GEIV). As part of the I-X project, these aircraft are true flying laboratories, responsible for measuring, calibrating, and certifying all air navigation aids in Brazil (such as radars and ILS instrument landing systems).
